When is the best time to have my newborn session take place?
What props are used?
When & how will I receive my photos?
Do you charge a travel fee?
Will you Photoshop my images to hide any unwanted spots, wrinkles, etc?
Do you charge extra for parents or siblings to be included in the session?
Are all images from my session included in my final gallery?
The best time to take newborn photographs is when your baby is
between 7-14 days old. Babies at this age spend most of their time
sleeping and are still very flexible from being in the womb, both of which
make it easier and much safer to pose them for photographs. I do most
of my newborn sessions during the week between 10 am and 2 pm.
I supply lifestyle newborn props such as swaddle blankets, headbands, textured blankets, and a Moses basket. If you would like to incorporate any additional props, I only ask that you let me know about these items before your session date, so that I can plan your session accordingly.
Approximately 1-2 weeks after our session, you will receive an email with a link to view your proofing gallery and select your favorites from the session. From there, I will view your selections and do the fine-tuning and final edits, and when completed, send you another email with the link to your final gallery. The files are delivered via a secure online gallery which you can share with friends and family members. Depending on the package you choose, you can expect to recieve your final edited images within 2-3 weeks following your final selections being made.
Anything beyond 20 miles from my home in West Bloomfield Michigan, I charge $1.00 a mile.
Yes — newborn images almost always receive careful, detailed retouching as part of my editing process. Because newborn skin often has temporary flakes, redness, scratches, milk bumps, or uneven tones, I typically do more extensive skin editing on baby than I would in a standard family session so that your final gallery still looks natural while presenting your baby beautifully.
For parents and siblings, I also make subtle adjustments for temporary distractions such as blemishes, minor scratches, or small spots, while keeping everyone looking like themselves. My goal is always to deliver images that feel polished and timeless without looking over-edited. Minor edits will be made to all of your images (removal of scratches, blemishes, stray hairs, etc.) but I believe our imperfections are what make us beautiful & unique. If there are specific edits you want, these will be charged according to the number and complexity of edits.
No. If you are a member of the immediate family, you are part of the cost for the session.
You will first receive a proofing gallery of the best images from your session, and from that gallery you’ll choose the set amount of images included in your chosen collection. Those selected images are then fully hand-edited and delivered in your final gallery for download. The full proofing gallery itself is not downloadable, and access to all of the images is not included with any of my collections.
For most sessions, the proofing gallery can often contain upwards of 70–100 images, but because those are unedited proofs, they are really intended to help you make your selections rather than serve as the finished product. Since my editing is such an important part of the final look and consistency of my work, the final delivered gallery is always made up of the images you choose for full editing. Additional images can absolutely be added later if you decide you’d like more than the set number in your gallery.
